Don M., Steve's Dad, came through his surgery Tuesday - having his kidney and a large tumor removed. He will be at Munson about a week. Prayers for the family and Don as they move through this difficult time.
Jo B. had her back surgery this morning at Munson. The doctor said she did quite well and he expects a good recovery. Prayers for a complete recovery and her return to her mission in China.

Please keep my cousin and her family - Shelia and Michael, and their sons Alex and Nick. Nick was is a car accident 5 years ago and nearly lost his leg. He is 23 now, and having severe circulation issues in that leg - only one artery remains open, and he has had multiple surgeries and angioplasties on that leg. The physical and psychological impact is affecting them all. In addition, they are caring for a relative with Alzheimer's, and suffered the loss of a close family friend recently. My daughter Jolene & husband Tim were blessed with twins on Tues.. Both BabyBoy & Baby Girl are doing well, 6lbs 13 oz. each on 20 1/4 inches long. Jolene is having a problem with post partum preclampsia. Her blood pressure was down yesterday and she hoped to go home today but it is back up. Please pray that she get some healing so her blood pressure gets under control and she can take those beautiful babies home. Dee B.

We just found out that Roy (Joan's brother) has developed pneumonia at the nursing home. He just got over a urinary tract infection. Justin is at Butterworth Hospital in the cancer unit. He started his treatment on Sunday - he had an adverse reaction to one of the drugs but did much better today. Today, he was seen by an infectious disease physician because he has a fever. The Dr. feels it may have to do with the chemo.
Still working out complete plans for treatment - no time set as to when he may be discharged. Prayers for Justin and his family as they move through this difficult and unknown time.

We just received word that Justin B., son of Kevin and Patricia B., and one of our recent High School grads is having some health problems. While on vacation Justin experienced shakiness and had trouble walking. He received three units of blood and is having follow-up tests for possible Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

-Donna continues to do well. Keeping food down and sleeping OK, sore mouth, still has her hair and getting bossy (what's new?) But nurses say worst is yet to come in the next day or two. Prayers are needed for Frank W. who was transported to Munson thisafternoon by helicopter. He needed to have a stent, which had beenpreviously placed for an aneurysm in his groin, repaired. They wereableto do the repair with a local anesthetic. Problematic wascontrolling his blood pressure following. He will be in the hospitalfor a couple of days.

From Joan D.:Today we visited my brother, He is in the "step-down" unit of thehospital. He knew us, is speaking clearly, joking, but gets tiredquickly. He is eating pureed food, getting PT for arms & legs.They hope to have him sitting up on the edge of the bed soon.

What good news from Joan D.:
"We saw my brother today, and we got wonderful news. They took hisventilator out yesterday and the infection is out of his blood. He isawake and knew us. Dr. asked about his wife's name, etc. (said who'sthis lady and how are you related to her). He is whispering as histhroat is sore and raspy, but the Dr.'s said that should get better.They will not put a trachea in. They are treating the aneurysm w/meds.Next step is to see if he can tolerate food and keep it down.If not, he will have to have a feeding tube in. My sister-in-law issaying, this is my miracle man."

Roy seems to be holding his own. He opened his eyes twice yesterday. Itwas all good news on Thurs. He has an infection again since Thurs. Itis in the blood. They have taken him off the other antibiotic and puthim on two different ones. He is running a little fever. There was talkof a trach this week but there was debate on that because he has to beoff certain meds and that isn't a possibility right now. We are prayinghe will start breathing on his own so they can take the ventilatorout."

Latest on my brother, Roy.
Blood pressure a little low but not enough that theyare concerned. His pulmonary level which feeds theheart is high and they are concerned w/that. Hiskidney is still currently not working. Liver isworking somewhat but levels are very, very high. Theyput a balloon and stint in to monitor pressure through thegroin to keep out infection. He has 2 holes in hisheart. They think this has been a 3 week process. Mustget him stabilized before they can do open heartsurgery.Love, Joan

Donns younger brother Chuck has been dianosedwith Pancreas cancer as of last Friday 2/19/10As far as we know he hasstage 4. He will see the Oncologest Thursday 2/25/10 in TC. He had back surgery on Monday and told Joyceand Jerry today that he can't stand, sit or walk. If two weeks oftherapy doesn't help, he may be facing even bigger surgery.

Just spoke with Kay H., Jeff came through his back surgery thisafternoon just fine. It lasted 2 hours - 40 minutes. He can alreadyfeel his toes again. They hope to discharge him on Friday. Prayers fora complete recovery.

Karen Z.'s mother, Val C., died Monday. Her funeral mass is Friday at11:00 am at St. Ann Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 10:00 am.Prayers for comfort and peace for this wonderful family.

Ron and I are thankful for our Christian friends who are praying forus. Ron has recovered from his pneumonia and his atrial fibulation ofhis heart with the help of our good doctors. His heart is doing fine.He is however struggling with pulmonary problems and will be seeing aspecialist in another week. His breathing is better after a newmedication was prescribed last Friday. 
I saw the same doctor and was told I have pneumonia and am onmedication to clear it up. We both are weakened from the problems, butfeel strong in our trust of God and know we are on the way torecovery.
Many of you have been praying for us and we feel thepresence of the Holy Spirit because of it. Thank each one of you and wepray all of you, our church family and friends, are being blessed also.~Marilyn

Stella V. fell late last week. She had surgery Sunday morning torepair her broken hip. Report this evening is that she came through thesurgery well and they plan to have her walking in the morning. Prayersfor strength and her recovery.

A phone call just came for Yvonne B.'sgranddaughter with an update.Yvonne, as far as the surgery goes, is doing remarkably well. No IVpain meds, post-surgically is doing splendid.However, while she was in recovery, she mentioned that she had chestpain (while not a surprise as she had surgery in that area) Anyhow,they have her in the Cardiac Unit. They are doing a chemical stresstest today. All other tests, that is EKG and enzymes, have beennegative. One last test. She is staying the night again and hopefullywill be discharged in the morning. Please continue the prayers for herand her healing.

I am again asking for prayer for my friends in Texas. Mel is now inrehab, but he has a long way to go to regain strength. Jackie's healthis very frail and she can't be alone. They are hoping to find anaffordable assisted living situation where they can be together.Jackie's daughter, Pam, has bourne the brunt of dealing with hospitals,finding placement for Mel, and caring and supporting Jackie. She isabout worn out. All three are strong in their faith in God and feel thepower of prayer supporting them.
I was going to Texas to relieve Pam for a week, but was sidelined by adiscovery of breast cancer. I am blessed that it was detected early andam confident that it can be treated succesfully. I ask that you prayfor me as I go through surgery on April 24th. I know God is walkingwith me through this valley.

-We have several persons who are in need of our prayers at this moment.
-Dianne M. just received word that she will need immediate surgeryfor a bladder condition. She needs to see the heart Doc on Thursday andthen after she is off a blood thinner will have the surgery as soon aspossible. She is weak. Hopefully, the surgery will solve the problem.
-Roger J. is due to have surgery on Monday, April 20, for anaortic aneurysm. He also will have to deal with a growth in one of hiskidneys as soon as he is healed from the first surgery. On top of allof that he has a broken ankle and sciatica in his right leg whichis really hurting him. He asked for our prayers as he moves throughthis difficult time.

My brother Darrell's sweet little three year old son, Zachary has justbeen sent to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood Fl. He'sbeen in the hospital for almost two weeks for a strep infection in hisblood stream among several other things....He's had tubes down histhroat to pump the air from his stomach, iv's, feeding tubes, breathingtreatments, been catheterized, a blood transfusion and poked andprodded and prayed for. They took him to the doctor for an earinfection and then ambulanced Zach and Deb to the hospital from thedoctors office. Much more than an ear infection. Now these twowonderful parents are caught in a nightmare. Mom is with Zach, butDarrell is still in Naples trying to take care of their 14yo, Ryan andstill take care of Deb and Zach. We just got the call that they fearone of Zach's lungs is dying or may have already and they may have todo surgery......and just yesterday they thought he was improving andregaining his strength. Please send prayers, they are needed andappreciated. Thank you.

I would like to update the eye situation I've hadfor two weeks. I saw a specialist Wed. in T.C. and he gave me a seriesof botox above the right eye. Today both eyes are open - praise God!! Igo back in May for more shots or possibly just a progress report. Theyhave no explanation as to the 52 years of daily headaches, BUT thisbattle over the eye has been won (even for a while is good!!). Thankyou for your prayers for healing, and answers, but even more for theprayers for patience as I continue to live with this chronic pain andsearch for some kind of answer....blessings....kit r.

Kit has been suffering from headaches all last week that have closedone or both eyes. Doctors don't seem to have an answer for her. She istrying another specialist Wed. of this week. She is more frustratedthan anything else as these are not new to her only they are gettingworse and there seems to be no help from anyone in the medical field.She will probably have to learn to live with this 'funny face'condition the rest of her life. Now we can add the 'funny face' to thehand and heel conditions - a walking 'poster child' for 'growingolder'.
Her husband Bill can be taken off the prayer chain now as hisinfection is gone and he can now use his elbows. However, the pain isstill there so he went to a specialist also and found out that he nowhas a bone spur on his right elbow (probably from the fall) but theyhave no idea what is causing the pain in his left one as there appearsto be no arthritis. He is on Prednisone to see if that might reduce thepain. He too, might just have to suck it up and deal with the pain likeevery other senior citizen has too.....you can't be a sissy and growold!!

Bill has been given one more week to heal his elbow or he will have tosee a surgeon to fix the interior damage done from the fall he hadabout Thanksgiving time. He has had about 16 cc's drained from it nowand has had a cortisone shot so hopefully all this will help to keephim out of the hospital. Randy's family (along with Randy and I) are going thru a rough time. Hehas 2 aunts that have fallen, one with a broken hip (Randy's mom'ssister) the other with head injuries (Randy's mom's brother's wife)that are now in a nursing homes. He had a cousin pass away on Wednedaynight (Randy's dad's sister's daughter), and the husband of a cousin onthe other side (Randy's mom's sister's, with the broken hip, daughter'shusband) pass away on Thursday night both unexpectedly. Randy and Ihave been quite close with Phil the one that passed on Thursday night,he was 58. Please pray for these families for strength and healing.

Alice F.'s granddaughter, Erin, and her husband David wereinvolved in a front end collision last Sunday in Indianapolis on theirway to Michigan. A pick-up crossed over the line and hit them head on.Erin had a serious injury to her ankle - otherwise doing fine; Davidhas some cuts and bruises but also fine. They were able to rent a carand return to Nashville (home.)Erin is having surgery today (Wednesday) to fix her ankle (screws,metal, etc. needed for the repair) The prognosis is very good. Surgeryis at 4:00 p.m.. Grandma Alice has requested prayers for Erin, thesurgery and recovery.

An update on Jean Stump: Jean returned home Sunday evening from MunsonHospital. While there a MRI revealed that she has two masses in herbrain. Both chemotherapy and some pinpoint radiation will be initiatedin the near future. Continued prayers for daily strength for both Jeanand Walt and that the treatment will help alleviate some of theneurological symptoms for Jean.

This one is a thank you for all your prayers. Hannah Barnum is homewithher parents and is doing just fine. The fluid on the brain wasrelieved by a neuroscope and a new drain "hole" made and nowshe is just fine. This 5 year old was adopted from Russia and thisappeared to be a congenital defect and who knows if it would have beentaken care of at the orphanage in Russia. Great News! After a visit to Dr. in G.R. Link Finnerty, grandson ofLarry Finnerty & Great-Nephew of Dee Brinks, got a verypositive reportthanks to all of the prayers offered by this congregation. Link is nolonger on oxygen and hasn't been for a while. Although he is stillbeing tube fed, he is learning to suck on a pacifier. He is alsostarting to smile and respond more. He passed his hearing test withflying colors but there is still some question on the quality of hisvision. He will be going back to G.R. in Sept. for a MRI and we willreceive more information then. Just wanted to update you all on baby Gavin. He has been moved toModerate Care in Ann Arbor after 10 weeks in Intensive Care and 3separate heart surgeries. He now has a permanet pace maker but becauseof that, he has been off the ventilator now for 5 days!!!!! This isthe first step in going home. His Mom reports he is smiling for thefirst time (he is now 5 months old). So many people have been prayingfor this baby and God has been so great in healing him. He will stillface at least one other heart surgery when he is bigger but the factthat he has lived so far is truly a miracle....even the Drs. and nursesare saying that!! Update on Gavin Vanderwall. It now looks as though one of Gavin's heartvalves isn't working properly. They have tried several times but can'tget him off the ventilator. If he can withstand surgery again now, theywill probably go in and fix it. If not, they hope he can get wellenough to go home on the ventilator until he can have the surgery. Thesurgery is the better alternative. I have asked for prayers before for 3 month old Gavin Vanderwall (he isMike's grandfather's great great nephew). He has downs syndrome and has3 holes in his heart. He was scheduled for surgery in Ann Arbor in Dec.and developed pneumonia so he couldn't have the surgery. He was rushedto Devos Children's hospital on Christmas Day with a 105 temperatureand now has a bacterial infection. He is now on a ventilator and has afeeding tube inserted into his small intestine. They plan to transferhim to Ann Arbor sometime Tuesday - Thursday depending on his conditionand he is scheduled for the surgery on Jan. 8. It must be done ASAP.His parents were originally told he had to wait until he was 6 monthsold, now they are being told it should have been done as soon aspossible after his birth as he has now lost strength and is at agreater risk now. Please pray for Gavin, his Drs. and his family

Kindly pray with me for Neels. Pray with me for his parents,stepmother, women his mother life with. Neels needs the Holy Spirit toguide him, help him forgive his parents. The Holy Spirit needs to guidehis father - where he was absent in the life of Neels, he never gaveNeels financial support - but I know the Holy Spirit can guide this man- to reconcile with his son. Neels broke our relationship. When I readan article about depression - I understood why Neels "broke" therelationship. He needs to go for councelling - but all I can do, is toask the Holy Spirit to work in the heart of Neels - to help him withhis depression, and to help Neels to contact me again, restore ourrelationship. Please add Ward Hotchkin to your prayer list again. Ward and Betteattended Cadillac UMC for a while a couple of years ago. Ward hadfinally gotten over his lung infection and resumed his arthritismedication. Now he is back in Ann Arbor with a massive Baker's cystwhich usually isn't cancerous but its size, from knee to ankle, and asuspicious area requires an appointment at the cancer center. Pray forWard's health and that he maintain attitude. Pray also for Bette whocontinues to suffer constant back pain.

From Karen Cooley: Keagan Weaver, only 3+ weeks old is presentlyundergoing surgery on his leg at DeVos Children's Hosptial in GrandRapids. He was taken by ambulance with his Mom and Dad and Kadefollowed in the car. Aunt Karen is not exactly sure what is theproblem, but appears to be an infection around his knee. She is coming around from thesecond surgery now and they feel they got most of the infection. She isopening her eyes somewhat. Karen will remain at Mayo for a least twomore weeks at the earliest. Talked with Max this morning. He is recovering well now seven weeks outfrom his surgery which removed a very large tumor on his kidney. He andIrene are walking two miles each day. They are getting "antsy" and areanxious to return to Florida. They will be flying back on February 1.Max asks for prayers for continued healing and daily strength.

Hey prayer warriors, I just returned from the oncologist where I wentafter a disturbing several weeks getting back test results. It appearsthat I have a mass the size of a grapefruit on my ovaries and they aregoing to do surgery on Monday, May 20 at Munson Medical Center. Karen Z. is requesting prayer for their son, Kirk F. who willbe having an MRI this Saturday. This is a precautionary test. Kirkreceived a concussion while playing hockey two weeks ago. The CT scanrevealed a fatty tumor in the back area of the skull. They feel it isOK but want to check it out just to be sure. The Dr. cleared him forsports today. They ask that we remember Kirk as he has thistest. 

Also,please pray for our friend, Jane M., as she begins a new round ofchemo tomorrow in Traverse City. She will be having three sessions aweek apart then a week off and another series for three sessions. Then,they will recheck her. Her most recent scans revealed that the canceris moving in other places in her body despite a complete series ofradiation and chemo in the summer and early fall. Her husband is Barry.Both need to be surround in prayer during this difficult days.
