to God.

One:..........With all your heart, reach out in service to those in need, remembering God's mercy in your own life.

All:..........Our lives shall be witnesses to the love of God

which has been lavished upon us.

One:..........Come, let us worship the Lord with Great joy!

Make Me a Servant”

Responsive Prayer of Confession

One:..........Hospitable God, you welcome us as people beloved by you and this privilege begs a like response from us. When we welcome you in our lives we are also welcoming all people as people beloved by you.

All:..........We confess that there are times when we fail miserably.

One:..........We know that for many people this world is indeed an inhospitable place because they are ‘estranged from their culture and country, their neighbors, friends and families.’

All:..........Forgive us when we keep people at arms length and regard them with suspicion if we believe that they are different in any way from us.

One:..........We give thanks that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever as is his love for us and he empowers us to relate to one another with that same love - mutual love.

All:..........Open the door of our hearts so that we welcome strangers and share what we have, for we know that such things are pleasing to you, O God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

One:..........Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever and he came into this world to save sinners. We are therefore assured that in Jesus our sins are forgiven.

All:..........Thanks be to God!

*Doxology....................#94

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise God, all creatures here below; Alleluia! Alleluia!

Praise God, the source of all our gifts!

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!

Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*Prayer of Dedication (in unison)

Eternal God, you welcome us as people beloved by you and you shower us with blessings - the greatest of these being Jesus, your Son, our Lord. We share what we have with you, by offering these gifts and the service of our lives as signs of our thanksgiving and our desire to follow Jesus - and to share his love with all whom we meet. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

*Closing Hymn

God Whose Giving Knows No Ending”

Tune: Hyfrydol

God, whose giving knows no ending,
from your rich and endless store-
nature's wonder, Jesus' wisdom,
costly cross, grave's shattered door-
gifted by you, we turn to you,
offering up ourselves in praise;
thankful song shall rise forever,
gracious Donor of our days.

Skills and time are ours for pressing
toward the goals of Christ, your Son:
all at peace in health and freedom,
races joined, the Church made one.
Now direct our daily labor,
lest we strive for self alone.
Born with talents, make us servants
fit to answer at your throne.

Treasure, too, you have entrusted,
gain through powers your grace conferred,
ours to use for home and kindred,
and to spread the gospel word.
Open wide our hands in sharing,
as we heed Christ's ageless call,
healing, teaching, and reclaiming,
serving you by loving all.

*Commission and Blessing

Pastor:..........It is time to go.

All:..........Time to re-engage with the secular world.

Pastor:..........Time to put the faith into deeds .

All:..........Time to practice uncalculating love.

Pastor:..........Time to meet the Christ who waits for you.

All:..........Time to share his boundless hope.

Pastor:..........You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. With God’s blessings in your mind and heart, let

each morning be a joy to you,

each path be a joy to you,

each neighbor be a joy to you.

Now and always . . .

All:..........Amen!

PRAYER SONG....................#2176

Make Me a Servant”

UNISON PRAYER

God of life, you invite us to draw near to you. In the brightness of a summer’s morning we praise you, and thank you for the rest of night. We come to be renewed by your Spirit, and to be re-energized in our faith. Speak to us and breathe in us, we pray.

We rejoice O God, in your open welcome, Your invitation to be held within your embrace, no matter our faults and our failings.

May we each hear Christ’s call upon our lives.

In a time of quietness we bring to you those things

which rest heavy on our hearts

  • things we have failed to do

  • things we wish we had not done

  • words we wish we could take back…

Forgive us and restore us Lord, to face again the new day, with hearts ready to serve. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
