United Methodist Men will be hosting the 2nd "All Church Movie and Pizza Night” on Thursday, January 22. The dramatic presentation of Martin Luther's struggle with the Catholic Church will be shown under the title "Luther." The show begins at 6:00 p.m. with a short intermission for pizza, tossed salad and ice cream. We hope to be finished by 8:30 p.m. Come join us.
The 2009 Flower Chart is available on the bulletin board in the office hallway. You may sign-up to honor or remember a person(s) or special occasion. The flowers are $15 - simply remit through your regular offering envelope or a pew envelope.
It isn’t too late to join the 12 week winter sexual abuse support group called "Grow Group.” This group meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church in the Wesley room. All classes are confidential. Men and women of all ages are welcome. If you have a friend or relative who needs help, bring them. With God's help we can heal, and live the life we were created to live. All facilitators have experienced sexual abuse and are trained to help others begin the healing process. Some of our members are in a care facility or shut-in at home. At Lakeview Lutheran Manor, Harriett Gaumer (414) and Harold Gekeler (618). At Curry House are Eloise Baker (110) and Irene Szymke (107) and at Green Acres, Virginia Linn. Others who remain in our circle of care include Doris Brenneman & Alene Culver at Belle Oakes; Waneta & Carl Springberg, Dianne Moore, Chet Wells and Patricia Davis at home. All of them would appreciate cards, notes, prayers & visits.
The AMEN Chorus (Area Men’s Ensemble of Note) is seeking men who would enjoy singing. This group will rehearse on Saturdays from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on January 24, 31 and February 7, 14, 21, 28 with a performance at 7:00 p.m. on March 7. All rehearsals and the performance will be held at Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church in the village of Lucas. We are asking for a commitment to attend at least 4 of these 6 rehearsals and a contribution of $10 to underwrite a portion of the cost of music. The Men’s Chorus will be conducted by Harvey Lucas and accompanied by Sandy Bode.

The Souper Bowl of Caring will be held on Super Bowl Sunday, February 1. You are invited to bring cans of soup and/or $1 bills to help those in need. All food and monies collected will go to local food pantries. On this most extravagant Sunday of the year, let us remember and help those who are in need.
The Annual Youth Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction (you can begin bidding at 9:30) will be held on Sunday, February 15 following the late service.
