UNISON PRAYER Today we look back and remember the saints who have brought our community to this time and place, our spiritual parents and grandparents. Also as people of faith, we not only look back and remember their work and impact, but we also look forward. We look forward to the reward in which they already share. We look forward to the tomorrow in which death and crying will be no more. We look forward to the fulfillment of your promises for us. God, on this day when we honor the saints, we pray for your loving presence to be felt by these gathered here. For all that you have done, are doing and will do for us, we give you thanks and praise. Amen.
PRAYER OF THE PEOPLE
NAMING AND REMEMBERING THE SAINTS Delores Steadman Edna Ranville Harold Gekeler Kathy Dombrowski Jean Stump Carl Springberg Ruth Bouwma Jane Harrison Bob Rapley Margaret Pulford I have been to the mountain and I’ve looked over Jordan, but the land is beyond my hopeful stare. But the little I can see is so beautiful to me, and I long to cross over, over there.
When my time in this land will come to an end, I will close my eyes in final prayer. But I won’t be surprised when I open up my eyes on a boat crossing over, over there, over there.

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (In Unison) Great and eternal God, we have been striving to run the race and striving to keep the faith. We bring our love to you and our loyalty to the church. We pray that your blessing upon these gifts may enable us and our church and your great Spirit to be a beacon of light and love to all the world; in Jesus’ name. Amen.
SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION A Great Thanksgiving for All Saint’s Day
You, O God, created us and have brought your people through many trials: Abraham and Sarah, Miriam and Moses, Peter and Mary, Martin Luther and John Wesley, Francis of Assisi and Clare, Martin Luther King, Jr., John Paul II and Mother Teresa all attest to your providence and mercy and show us ways to live.
All:..........Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor, power and might be to our God forever and ever!
You came in human form to walk among us, teaching us the way to live as your children. In Jesus Christ you showed us what holy living looks like, and gave us the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion to remember and experience anew your presence, encouraging us to live in relationship to you.
All:..........Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor, power and might be to our God forever and ever!
In this meal, we give you praise and thanks, Creator God, as we remember all those who have passed on into glory. Pour out your Spirit, that this bread may be for us the Bread of Heaven, and this cup, the cup of your new covenant in Jesus Christ. Bind us together by your Spirit as your holy people, washed by your Baptism and strengthened for holy living by this meal.
All:..........Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor, power and might be to our God forever and ever!
Give us humble spirits and open and receptive hearts as we eat this bread and as we drink this cup. Help us see beyond our own needs and purposes to become a part of your purpose, to be faithful disciples. As Jesus taught the disciples of old, we now pray, Our Father . . .

Today, we will be tying a Prayer Quilt for Anna Rapley. The Quilt will be available for your prayers and tying in the Fellowship Hall following both worship services. The purpose of the Prayer Quilt Ministry is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts -- "It's not about the quilt; it's all about the prayers." Each quilt is for someone in special need of our prayers.
Several months ago, we began offering a gluten free option during Holy Communion for those in our midst who have a wheat sensitivity. Overall, this has been very well received. There is one glitch and it is an important one. In the past two months as the Sacrament was served, several persons have taken the regular bread and then dipped it into the cup which was being offered for the gluten free option. Some persons are so sensitive that even this much exposure could cause some serious health difficulty. Please use the cup that is being served as you take the bread at a serving station. We want everyone to be able to receive Holy Communion in safety of their health. Thank you for looking out for one another.
Equal Exchange Coffee Sale (decaf and regular) will be held TODAY following both worship services. |
