If you have a prayer joy or concern you would like shared during the

Prayer of the People, please hand it to an usher during the Prayer Hymn.

PRAYER HYMN ..........................................................................................#2112

Jesus Walked This Lonesome Valley”

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of Eden's morning, we know that Lent is a hard time for us. In a culture which showcases success, you call us to sacrifice ourselves for others. In a world which promotes power, you invite us to deny ourselves. In a society which encourages us to 'feel good,' you point us to the struggles and the burdens that those around us bear.

By your mercy, forgive us, Hope of our lives. Remind us that as we journey with Jesus, we learn the steps of discipleship. As we listen to his call to obedience, may we learn how to say 'no' to all that tempts us. As we see his suffering, may we live out the good news which has come to us through Christ our Lord.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Pastor: By ourselves, we would be easily controlled by sin and

temptation. But God has given us the free gift of grace and so we are set free to live as disciples.

All: This is the gift which brings us hope and joy.
Thanks be to God, we are forgiven! Amen.

*PRAYER OF GIVING THANKS (in unison)

God of Creation, all that we have comes from you. We bring our gifts from a deep sense of thankfulness for all that you have done. Use this offering to spread your gift of life to all of the world, that everyone might know the wonders of your forgiving love. Use us as your forgiven servants, rejoicing in your gifts of life. Amen.

As part of our journey in this season of Lent, we are offering two opportunities. First, we have a Lenten Pocket Prayer Key Tag” for you which offers a reminder to pray and commit to the Lord during Lent and second, we are inviting you to join with others in having a “secret prayer partner.” Today, we will have those who wish to participate place their name on a card, put it in a basket and then you will take one from the basket who will be your “partner” for Lent. A message board is set-up is so you can communicate with your prayer partner anonymously throughout Lent. The prayer partners will be revealed on Easter Sunday. Plan to share in this ministry of prayer as we listen, reflect and receive during Lent.

TODAY: Come and share in the 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off. Bidding on the gift baskets begins following the early worship service at 9:30 a.m.. The Cook-Off follows the 11:00 worship. A Bake Sale is also included in the festivities. All proceeds go to the Youth Mission Trip this summer.

Adult Membership Classes begin this morning immediately following the early worship service. We will meet in the Church Library for the next four weeks. If you are interested in learning more about the church and faithful church membership, please come.
